I was recently doing some ancestry research and found that my Great great great great great grandfather came from Germany as an immigrant, his last name was Prettyleaf, I'd like to search internation databases for records as well, is there another last name I should be searching by? I think maybe he changed it when he came over

Hello
Pretty: English (chiefly east Anglia): nickname for a fine or handsome fellow, from Middle English prety, prity= fine, pleasing, excellent. Old English praettig (prættig)= clever, artful, wily.
LEAF: English, from the Old English personal names Leofa (masculine) and Leofe (feminine) dear, beloved. These names were in part short forms of various compound names with this first element, in part independent affectionate bynames. English: apparently a topographic name for someone who lived in a densely foliated area, from Middle English leaf (in german Blatt).
(Or Americanized form of Swedish Lö(ö)f, Löv, an ornamental name from löv ,leaf. English translation of the Ashkenazic Jewish ornamental surname Blatt).
Pretty-Leaf, in German=Schönblatt. Possibly a Jewish name.
